So I'm watching the bonus feature on Blade Runner, The Final Cut and The Mist...I don't think I've ever seen an interview with the promo-poster artist before. The man, and the legend Drew Struzan...and John Alvin (who also worked on the original "Blade Runner" movie poster) I think I'd kill to have these guys work on a "Serenity" poster...(drools)

We've all seen his artwork on the Harry Potter series, Indiana Jones, Back To The Future, and so on...
Anyways after listening to him speak on the artwork of "The Mist" and "Blade Runner" (and other) movie posters (also John Alvin) how he feels about his his work and how he approaches it...it's kinda changed things for me, especially as a traditional artist. I might not have their schooling and training but, if it's coming from the heart, it can work just as well. So I guess if all goes well...by this summer, if not sooner, things are going to get a little bolder. This may put some of the more epic projects on the back-burner, but I think it'll be worth the wait.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons. . .for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
But yeah, I think I think it is time to amp things up a bit with my work. As I tell my students, "The day you feel as though you're good as you need to be or want to be, it's time to hang it up, and call it a day." Which, if I can help it, will avoid like the plague.

The only thing about being self taught that gets people into trouble is when they brag about it like they're better than those who took a few classes or got a degree. You're not that type of person.
Kidding! But I do see your point. But I have to admit though, I've seen the braggart's sword swing both ways...Sometimes those lucky enough to have an formal education in the arts can be just as bad. I'm not too inclined to be quite as forgiving with them as they should know better, and appreciate their training that much more.
Again though, thanks for the compliment!

I think I'll keep lurking your gallery - maybe some of the enthusiasm will rub off on me.
Feel free to keep lurking, it's appreciated.
